Obama National Day of Health Care Service

Como bibliotecaria de un recinto de ciencias de la salud debo seguir este evento de cerca y en adición es interesante observar ,y por ende investigar, el fuerte uso que hace Obama de la informática social.

The race to pass real health care reform in 2009 is heating up. Early drafts for a full proposal are already circulating in the Senate and in the House. While our opponents twist arms to weaken reform, the future of American health care is up for grabs.

¿Se acuerdan del Y2K? Dicen que Twitter alcanzará pronto el identificador asociado a cada “twitteo” número 2,147,483,647. ¿Y? Qué dicen los “expertos” que se caerá porque las aplicaciones no estan preparadas para manejar esta cantidad. ¿Porqué esa? Ni idea. Se supone que entonces podría tornarse en números negativos ¿?
De todas formas, los adictos a Twitter, preparemos el Té de Tilo por si las moscas como escribe Ben Parr en en Mashable…solo que el sugiere enlatados y agua…

Servicios de Información de salud en Second Life
El "Journal of Medical Internet Research" publica el artículo titulado, A Survey of Health-Related Activities on Second Life . En el mismo se discute el papel importante de SL como herramienta de difusión para información de salud al consumidor y para la educación.
Se encontró una amplia gama de actividades relacionadas con la salud en Second Life y un grupo diverso de usuarios que incluyen las organizaciones, grupos e individuos. Para muchos usuarios, Second Life, es parte de sus estrategias de comunicación Web 2.0.
El tipo más común de la salud relacionados con el sitio en nuestra muestra (n = 68) fueron aquellos cuyo objetivo principal fue la educación del paciente o para aumentar la conciencia sobre cuestiones de salud.
El segundo tipo más común de los sitios web son los servicios de apoyo, seguidos por los de talleres de entrenamiento y sitios de mercadeo.
Por último, algunos sitios que fueron creadas para llevar a cabo investigaciones en SL o para contratar a los participantes de la vida real para investigaciones.
En el resumen de conclusiones el artículo establece que los estudios demuestran que los comportamientos de los mundos virtuales se trasladan al mundo real. El estudio sugiere que los usuarios participan en una serie de actividades relacionadas con la salud en Second Life y que potencialmente impactan su comportamientosen la vida real . La investigación garantiza una próxima investigación donde se estudiará el impacto de las actividades relacionadas con la salud en Second Life.
El estudio identificó 68 "sites" relevantes distribuidos en cinco categorías: Educación y Sensibilización, Apoyo, Entrenamiento, Mercadeo y Promoción de servicios de Salud y por útimo Investigación.
Se hizo un muestreo de 47 de esos 68 contabilizados. De esos 68 lo más significativo fue lo siguiente; 34 de ellos se centran en la sensibilización y la educación en salud, 14 ofrecen apoyo de pares e información a grupos de pacientes con enfermedades específicas, 11 se enfocan en la formación y entrenamiento dirigida a estudiantes de medicina y otros profesionales de la salud y tres brindan la plataforma para llevar a cabo labores de investigación.
En términos de salud, Second Life cuenta con millones de residentes que necesitan información confiable y apoyo… y bibliotecarios dispuestos a ofrecer competencias de información adaptadas a los mundos virtuales.
