Conflict resolution in an international project team
«Conflict in project management is inevitable. The potential for conflict in a project team is usually high because it involves individuals from different backgrounds and orientations working together to complete a complex task. The cause of conflict in team projects can be related to differences in values, attitudes, needs, expectations, perceptions, resources, and personalities. Proper skills in dealing with conflict can assist project managers and other organization members to handle and effectively resolve conflicts which can lead to a more productive organization as a whole.»

The relationship between class and intergenerational solidarities in the public and private spheres calls for further conceptual and theoretical development. This article discusses the findings from the first wave of a qualitative longitudinal study entitled Changing Generations, conducted in Ireland in 2011–2012, comprising 100 in-depth interviews with men and women across the age and socioeconomic spectrums. Constructivist grounded theory analysis of the data gives rise to the following postulates: (1) intergenerational solidarity at the family level is strongly contoured by socioeconomic status (SES); (2) intergenerational solidarity evolves as family generations observe each others’ practices and adjust their expectations accordingly; (3) intergenerational solidarity within families is also shaped by the public sphere (the welfare state) that generates varying expectations and levels of solidarity regarding State supports for different age groups, again largely dependent on SES;

«Because Northern Ireland did not experience a Truth and Reconciliation Commission or a formal process of reconciling those who perceive themselves as victims and those who are identified as perpetrators, improving relations between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland has proven slow and difficult. Older cohorts have not redefined their identities or are as likely to change their political orientation as a result. There is evidence of significant identity change occurring in Northern Ireland, especially among the younger cohorts of Protestants in Northern Ireland. The peace process was built on the assumption that intergenerational change in terms of conceptions of identity would transform historically sectarian conceptions of identity into less reactionary and hostile ones. This would open up aspirations for new relations across the sectarian divide in Northern Ireland. Thus, the slow process of reconciliation that has been achieved thus far in Northern Ireland may accelerate as residual support for republican dissidents and loyalist paramilitaries fade. Many potential intervening events, so called period effects, may intervene and stop or slow this slow process of social and identity change in Northern Ireland.»

This paper considers the status of educational research that looks to replicate previous findings in a novel educational context,taking as its focus an active area of research in a range of national contexts: studies into students’ ideas about scientific topics. Thepaper considers the circumstances under which a “replication” study should be considered to offer original new knowledge worthyof publication in international research journals. It is argued here that there are sound principled reasons to expect studiesundertaken in different educational contexts to be able to contribute to a progressive research programme, and so researchersshould be encouraged to undertake such wor

Gatewood: Cultural models, consensus analysis, and… – Google Académico
The introductory essay to this collection correctly observes that there are many »challenges for rapprochement»between anthropology and (the rest of) cognitive science. Still, the possibilities of fruitful interchanges provide some hope for the parties getting back …
